Principal's Message

Our 2025-2026 school year is about to begin.  This is going to be an exciting year as we not only welcome rising 6th graders and new 7th and 8th grade students, but also 14 new staff members.  Soon you will see upgrades to the Main and Counseling Offices and new wall graphics and outdoor signage to modernize our 55-year-old campus.

Parents/Guardians can participate in a monthly Coffee Chat with SOMS Administrators to learn more about the work at the school and discuss ways we can be the best school for our children. Information on how to sign up will be posted in the weekly Round Up.

Students will experience a new Reading Language Arts curriculum in all grades and a new 7th grade social studies curriculum.  Financial literacy lessons will be added to the weekly Advisory period and students will have the opportunity to apply for campus jobs that will count towards community service.

Our academic focus this year is to increase math achievement using the iReady data and to increase literacy achievement focusing on vocabulary attainment, informational texts, and a uniform writing rubric.  We will also focus on student attendance since research shows this is an important factor in academic achievement. This year we will explore what it means to be Stallion Strong
